The Susquehanna Valley Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America has desired for a number of years to establish a church and church planting movement in Reading, that will proclaim the grace of the Lord Jesus and bring the transforming love of God as revealed in Jesus Christ.

THE OPPORTUNITY

• Reading is the largest city in the Susquehanna Valley Presbytery (5th largest in PA) with a metropolitan area of over 400,000 people known as “The Green Diamond”.
  
• The Reading metropolitan area has less than a 4% evangelical presence (compared with approximately 19% in the metro area of neighboring Lancaster, PA). There is no PCA presence in Berks County.
  
• The city of Reading has an ethnically diverse population: 1.5% Asian, 11% African-American, 37% Hispanic and 48% Anglo.
  
• Five colleges and universities are in and around the city of Reading.
